Orientation provides students with the information they need to adjust, prepare, and understand U.S. life on campus. The difficult situation for parents as their child leaves to study in the United States is eased by a parent-specific orientation. Communication with campus staff and other families provides insight into their child’s transition to the United States and life on campus.

Student Orientation

As students acclimate during their first days on campus, fun activities and engaging presentations make information understandable, relatable, and fun. Peer mentors facilitate bank account and phone setup, while a tour of campus paints a picture of everyday life after class, and in-between. Group shopping trips to purchase essentials from shampoo to dorm decorations, allow for exciting exploration of the surrounding town.

Parent Orientation

Parents will receive a personalized invitation to attend a parent orientation, which comes with their child’s acceptance letter. Once on campus, an overview of the student experience, campus safety, and academics offer greater information on their child’s academic and personal life. An enjoyable campus tour and a visit to the bookstore provide a further sense of place. Coffee chats with other parents also allows the opportunity to connect beyond orientation.
